  • Great in theory

The idea behind this app is genius, but it doesn’t live up to the hype. Though I have not been using the app for more than a day, I feel confident in making the following judgments based on what I’ve experienced, previous research, and other reviews. The major (and arguably only) PRO of this app is that it generates an endless amount of outfit variations. As such, you will find an outfit or two that you might not have previously thought to piece together as other reviewers state. But for me, the majority of combinations just did not make sense. I believe this works based off an algorithm rather than someone manually piecing outfits together for you, so in that case, you will get many outfits that are nonsensical. I could live with that if it weren’t for more problems. Cladwell has a database of generic pieces for you to choose from so that you don’t need to manually upload pictures of your wardrobe. I was only able to use maybe 5% of what they already had, so it took me half a day to go through every item in my closet, take a picture, classify it, and upload it. Tedious to say the least. The app asks what kind of clothes you typically wear & your age when registering, but it doesn’t take into account your specific style (I.e. Boho, hipster, 90’s, chic, etc.) which I feel would make more sense so that the database would offer clothing that YOU are more likely to have in your closet rather than the wardrobe of a basic middle-aged woman (or whatever is contrary to your style). Other factors in this include you knowing your items best. If they’re piecing items together based on color scheme or what’s appropriate for the weather, there’s still a good chance it won’t work because of fit, feel, etc. so it is important for you to only upload items that you know you will want to wear and know that they fit well on you. Also, it would be great if there was a search bar to type in descriptors (including brand name!) of the item that you have because it would save SO much time.
  • Sad to say goodbye.

I’ve loved this app for years. It’s really helped me utilize every piece of clothing I own, and it’s perfect for creating capsule wardrobes. Sure, it has its glitches, but I am one of those “free for life,” app users, so those have never really bothered me. While I’ve loved the app, I won’t be paying for a subscription.
  • Buggy app, dishonest company

    By MeganW44
Occasionally the app will completely crash. Sometimes it jumps back to the current day when you’re in the middle of a planning a future day. Tons of other miscellaneous bugs. Limited features, e.g. you can only add two “tops”, meaning you can’t layer a shirt and sweater if you want to add outerwear. All of these things were tolerable in a free app. I signed up during the “free for life” promotion. One day I noticed my account had switched a trial app so I emailed them to ask if it was a bug and was told that it was and my account would be fixed back to free for life. Less than a week later... is when they sent an announcement out that they were no longer honoring free accounts and would instead be charging $50/year to be able to use your account. Lol??? Needless to say, I have zero trust in this company. Goodbye Cladwell. I definitely regret wasting so much time adding my closet this app.
  • Thieves

I made the mistake of signing up for a free trial in 2016, which I canceled during the trial period. I made the mistake of assuming the cancelation was honored. They then continued to bill for YEARS (until 2020) on my credit card even though I never used or logged into their service. When I contacted customer service they only refunded me two charges, citing their return policy. Last I checked return policy didn’t apply to theft. Beware.
  • Useless

Completely useless unless you own extremely similar (boring staple) clothing. Otherwise you will get “similar” outfits that are wildly different colors/patterns and not wearable. I was baffled when I realized it wasn’t going to let me actually put my own clothing into the app. I pretty much “set up” my closet (nothing at all like what’s actually in my closet). Shook my head and deleted it. Only one of the recommended out fits (2 of which suggested high waisted jeans for 86° weather) and only one was actually similar to what I own and it’s what I would wear anyway (tank top, shorts and flip flops). I’m baffled that this could ever work for anyone. Maybe if you threw away all of your unique clothing and only bought white/gray/black or jean clothing.... but my green skinny jeans will not be worn with tan/pink boat shoes and a maroon top.... Completely useless app for anyone with any colorful/unique clothing.
  • Buggy

I want to love this app but it’s very buggy. Crashes / long load times.
  • Helpful App

    By Meiski
This is a great app that helps me use more of the clothes in my closet but this app could be so much better! It’s a little glitchy and the shopping guide has been giving me the same selections for about 2 years. I would also like to see the closet selections match what’s in season from the websites that are suggested in the shopping guide.
  • So expensive

    By Techno Lizzo
I’ve had this app for the past year and have loved it and logged outfits daily. I paid for the membership of $60 and thought it was for the lifetime of me using the app. I recently got notified it’s time to renew. So disappointed that it’s $60 a year! So expensive!! I would pay no more than half the price per year for that. I’m so bummed.
  • Don’t bother. And certainly don’t pay for it.

    By lbray13
I really wanted to love this app, I’ve had it for probably 2 years, and it’s been a work in progress the whole time... I actually signed up way back when it was free the first time, then they asked us to pay, then they gave pre-existing app owners a “free membership for life”. Two years of changes to the price/subscription structure, regular updates to try and fix bugs that don’t seem to do the job, and no changes in app features except for when it was briefly used to try and shill overpriced and boring Nordstrom’s best.. frankly, there hasn’t been much improvement to the app at all. It still crashes regularly, whether I’m trying to view my own closet or someone else’s. I usually end up building my own outfits due to strange suggested combinations, and sometimes my items don’t load at all. And my phone is in perfect working order. I’ve removed and reinstalled the app. It’s up to date. I don’t have problems with any other app on my phone. This one is just ridiculously prone to crashing. I’ve sent in multiple screen recordings of the failures of the app to help developers make improvements. I don’t have a problem hanging on and just hoping the issues are eventually resolved. But I think it’s pretty ridiculous to be asked to pay for it. At this point, Cladwell should be paying me. $10 a month? are you kidding me? That’s more than I pay for Netflix! And my “gift” for being a “free lifetime membership” member is a special promotion! $2/month for the first year. So $24 for a year and then I have to pay more. What a joke.
  • Useful but bipolar

    By cpalferpet
I’ve had this app a long time... very useful and user friendly but know it’s an up front time investment logging clothes. My main annoyance is that initially it was free. Then you had to pay which I decided to when it was reasonable... then it was free again! I had to ask for my money back which they only prorated... but now it costs $50 for a year! So now all my hard work loading each clothing item is all a loss because of this huge price jump. What happened to free for life? Can we make up our minds?!
