  • Good service. Cr@ppy app.

This should be a 5 star review for the service and price, but honestly the app is a mess on both iOS and (to a lesser extent) on Apple TV tvOS. The iOS app: “Live” presents users with a load of tiles. No rhyme or reason for the order of the channels or shows - just a load of tiles. Good luck finding the channel you want. Needs a tvOS style “Guide”... The tvOS app: This one actually has a guide. Kind of. But it’s useless if you’re sat 10ft from your TV as you can’t see what the channel is. I have a 65” 4K TV. Sat 10ft away, I can’t see the icon. You can see it barely if you scroll left, but scroll down to the next channel and it doesn’t keep channel name highlighted. It’s stupid nonsense like this that affects what could be a great service. Also, don’t bother with the STARZ add on with Philo. It’s $9/mo. for only 3 channels. YouTube TV charge the same $9 and have 14 STARZ channels including all the Encore ones.

To start I have Apple TV as my streaming device so that may be my problem. Every day or every other day I get errors while watching a show and I have to delete and re-download the app. If it was once or twice a week I could over look that, but after you download I have to enter my phone number to get a link sent to my phone and then I have to open that link and hit ok to get it to work. I’m not always home and available to pick up my phone so there are days the rest of my family has to wait patiently for me to be about to check my phone to reset it. I just counted the number of times I’ve reset.....34 times in 2 months of having this service. Not sure the price tag is worth the hassle. This service may work great on another device, but this is my experience with my Apple TV.

i tried philo out for about 4 months. a lot of the shows and movies aren’t always available to watch but are still listed. i cancelled my subscription and was notified i’d only have access until the following day even though i paid my $20 for the month. you also cannot cast to your tv-you have to use your phone or computer. for now i’m sticking with netflix / hulu.
  • I’m canceling my service after over a year of service.

You just erased my show for the 8th time in the last 5 days! I’ve been patient with your flaws and supposed “going to set up google chrome soon. “ Yes the shows you took were saved. Yes it was multiple shows and 3 different movies. Yes it’s happened several times before. I have contacted your customer service in the past. They did not pay attention to my complaint and I had to repeat my requests several times, until I finally gave up. 61/2 minute commercials? Wow I tried to set up a different profile for my husband, but that was a total waste of time. Since the shows you already watch are not saved in the new profile, you can’t watch any of the show until it plays on the air again. I should be able to bring what I’ve already saved over to the additional profile. It’s not like I’m starting a new account.

The prompts to cancel my free trial just went in a circle and customer service just gave me the same instructions. Poor user experience and didn’t even have the content I came to see
  • Why the ads?

The quality is great but for the price, I don’t expect to see ads. There’s no reason that I’m paying for a service and using the on demand portion and still have to watch ads. Essentially you’re double dipping because I’m paying you and you’re getting money from me by forcing me to watch ads that I would rather not see hint as to why I prefer streaming my shows so that I can bypass the ads. If I wanted to see ads, I would add tv to my Xfinity internet service. I will be canceling my subscription ASAP.

1.Online it says you don’t have to put your credit card information in until two days into having an account. You have to put your credit card information in before you start the trial. 2. It’s nearly impossible to cancel the free trial. Online it says to go to “account” and scroll to the bottom and click “cancel account” there is no cancel account button. 3. I had to contact customer service to cancel my trial and they took forever to respond and they were NO HELP. I had to cancel my account through Apple.
  • Apple TV doesn’t work

I download on iPhone and it works great, I’m trying the trial but can’t even get started on beta iOS Apple TV. It just closes when I try “get started” I’m assuming it’s the beta. I am excited to try Philo but this is disappointing. The mobile app is wonderful but I don’t watch TV on my mobile devices. I love what it offers but need to be able to test on Apple TV. I don’t care for sports and I can always read the news. I’m cutting back on spending and this matches my needs and allows me to pick up a few other services to match what I pay for one cable service. I’m gonna save a good amount of money if this will work on Apple TV, I hope it can be fixed. Even if it isn’t perfect or cumbersome it’s way way way way cheaper than what I’m paying for my current stream cable that offers 5 more channels and goes up in price every few months. I’m ok with $20 a month! I’ll suffer a downgrade lol
