It’s a good game, I just wish the kart moved easier. Like it would be better if u could just touch the screen and the kart would move to that direction. Because right now it’s really hard to control the kart, but it’s an ok game

I think you can probably attribute this to being a 3 star due to the nostalgia factor. The good: - It does bring out my competitive side. I feel like I want to win every race. -tons of characters, karts, and gliders to choose from - the courses are fun and are varied in different settings from past tracks and real cities. The bad: - algorithms are messed up. The percentage of computer players getting the best items in 7 or 8 place is way higher than if I was in the back. Ex: I just got in first place for the first time in a race right when lap two started, immediately I get blue shelled. - the microtransaction system is unbalanced. The cash to win is just filtered through 3-4 things so it doesn’t seem like it’s that bad but it is. Very deceptive. - here’s what you have to do to have the best chance to win a a race, hence earn the most points. 1. Have a character that can earn a frenzy, and hold 3 items from each item box. The more items and frenzy’s you get the easier it is to earn streaks and up your points 2. Often these top characters are earned through a loot box system. In order to get one of those characters you either have to straight up buy them from the store which is ridiculously over priced or use rubies you earn throughout the game to spin the pipe. They are pretty transparent when telling you the chances of landing on something. However it’s frustrating low to get the top characters. You sometimes get the most useless characters 2-3 times in one spin 3. Now the next layer is, to get those rubies to spin the wheel to get the best characters that you never get, you can complete challenges which initially wasn’t bad but I’ve hit a wall and it’s essentially impossible to move on. You can also earn them by earning stars on each track and progress that way, this is free however the amount of rubies you earn is insignificant and prevents you access to the best characters. Oh but wait there’s more, you can buy the $5.00 a month gold pass. This helps tremendously when earning rubies throughout the two week cup cycle but again you’re paying to have access to the best characters giving you the best chance to win. 4. Also remember that the devs decide which characters are going to be top tier 3 item with frenzy’s on a given track. So of course they make the top tier the characters you pay for the characters with 3 items. - the computer AI is different for each track. Some tracks in a given cup are super easy and some you literally can’t get 1st place on, those happen to the ones with the most pay characters in the 3 items frenzy tier. So basically I stick around because of nostalgia. I went back and fired up my N64 and the games back then were amazing but today just don’t hold up and are pretty boring in my opinion. I also feel the competitiveness come out in me and really like winning and racing satisfies that. I also usually only play one bigger game on mobile so until another comes along I’ll still be playing.

When this first came out it was pretty hype. Sure it’ll never give off that true Nintendo experience but went off to a great start. Mobile Mario kart has its ups though as they say nothing lasts forever. When this game first came out they rotated the shop items so the game could still be enjoyable to players without the gold pass which is understandable to a balancing perspective. When this first came out courses were pretty manageable alongside the characters though took time but not to much time that it was addictive. Collecting characters was fun and the Loot Pipes actually give off great items if you put that effort in. I do like how the events are pretty consistent while staying theme related but I worry the management in profiting doesn’t know what they’re doing. In a couple tours I got an instant Purple Event character which was great and all but seemed unsettling for the effort considering I've never emptied a pipeline completely. I’d recommend if they want to make legit profit while keeping players line ne drawn in. Needing to pay $20 per special character like Birdo is a bit over priced for a character who has mainstream potential but isn’t there yet in my opinion. I believe they could’ve made more profit from Aurora Rosalina as a payed character instead of just a event tour as still a character that looks intriguing while also alluring it’s style to the viewers eyes still making them at that I’m okay with purchasing this kinda event theme skin for a character for $20. Now aside from the developers letting mobile gamers take advantage of them is their option really even if it ruins us fans who don’t feel like we gotta put much effort in to get something worth while. The current way things are I’m not at all a fan of how all enemies pretty much get guaranteed three items. They were clever to fill in the other two as solo mushrooms but oh is that a serious potential way for players such as myself to question putting any effort in this game because at that point it’s just the developers being lazy by strategically designing the game so it draws players in without any regards to keeping that Mario kart feel. Don’t get me wrong I’ve still bought the golden pass sometimes for every other month just for guaranteed purple characters and/or karts, gliders, with the event tickets but even so the balancing system seems like they need to find a fine line of what to do. Multiplayer is an absolute mess. I’ve been in multiple matches in a row where it seems like certain characters are OP against others especially pay characters game. The game was fun when it wasn’t a pay to win game so there would be actually skill. Sure it still took some time at first but it seems to be leaning more based on players who spend money for the full experience. I’ve been collecting characters, karts, and gliders and for some strange reason I feel like after I upgrade some gliders then decide to charge my phone and head off for the night. After I’m back and up in the morning I get back on and I swear it was like they reset servers to the point it got stuck because by the time the new event is in and I’ve earned enjoy crystals for pipelines it’s like I’ve gotten another Morton, Lemmy, or Lenny but it doesn’t add up because it’s like they just got level 3 again... maybe I have some undiagnosed amnesia or something but that’s whack. I guess I missed some notification where they took Luigi away from my collection after a rework perhaps. I let that slip even though I shouldn’t because I only got 5 crystals for my gift inbox in return I guess but at least I got something unlike some games do. I’m really peeved it was either last cup or the one before it where I got second place but somehow I got awarded first in that current tier. I used the items awarded just assuming perhaps it was just some leaderboard output glitch or something... I’m not sure where to contact someone about so It doesn’t hurt to mention it here I suppose. Paying $45 for a kart is outrageous and aside from the gold pass the offers are far to overpriced for my preference. The gold passes used to guarantee purple items such as a character, kart, and/or glider but recently they don’t. I just wanted to mention all this letting the developers know fans like me are starting to fade away from a game we want to still reach its evolutionary potential but we feel we aren’t being valued enough unless the game team does something about it to at least meet us fairly halfway. The enemy cpu characters almost seem to unfairly sabotage your efforts in an overly aggressive way. I was in a course Shy guy bazaar and I kid you not the enemy in first place slowed down just to avoid my red shell then almost precisely calculated after I came down from the ramp to hit me with a green shell like it was punishing me for playing the wrong way... I won’t give this a 5 star until they fix those shennanigens but as it is now it’s a 3 star and might even go down to a 2 star if they keep it the way it seems to be heading.

When I last played this game, it was working great and I had a lot of fun playing. I dropped the game for a while and when I came back I wasn’t able to play it. I cleared the cache multiple times on different days, but I’m constantly met by a frozen “error occurred” pop-up. I’ve updated both the app and my iOS but see no improvement. I’m disappointed because I’ve missed a few events that I wanted to participate in. Hope my issue can be fixed. Thanks.

Just try it and you’ll see how bad it is.
  • Hard to get character you want

Some characters are hard to get and even when you spend real money, there’s no way to ensure that you will get the character or kart you’re trying to get. Otherwise, the game is super Mario fun!

Being a huge fan of the Mario Kart franchise, I actually really like this game, it’s really well done for a Mario kart mobile game but you could do so much more, I wanna see some retro tracks from the Wii or double dash, Mario kart 7 tracks and snes tracks just get a little boring overtime. I know everyone loves Mario kart Wii tracks a lot and there are so many iconic ones that’d I’d love to see in the game. The prices are kinda crazy in this game, though it’s free to play friendly, rubies cost so much and heck you might not get good things from a pipe, also (the $40 diddy Kong pack we shall not mention. And maybe smart steering should be nerfed or revamped, I even turned it off, and I still feel like I don’t have full power/control of kart, I just feel like the excitement of a Mario kart game comes from taking crazy shortcuts and just going out of control and fast! It’s so thrilling to go off a boost ramp in a crazy way! Finally the multiplayer system is great but I feel like instead of having to do a certain cup, maybe let the person who is the host pick a track or even better vote on one so it’s fair for all the players in a room, I’ve been playing this game since it came out and I’ve been waiting to see a Wii track on this. This amazing game has so much more potential and it could be so much better than what it already is! But overall this a great game and I love it, it’s not the best Mario kart, but it’s good, the all have a special place in my heart and so does this one.
