  • Great Graphics, Lack Luster Gaming

Harry Potter is a franchise that brings wonder, adventure, and pure magic to its audience through amazing character arcs, and dangerous foes. This game has little to none of that. After playing through Year 2 of the story line, I’ve decided I’ll have to put this game down. The setting is beautiful and makes me wish that I could just go on my own train ride into Hogwarts. What takes me out of the experience is the “Energy” system. Instead of playing through classes, the player is merely spending time clicking the screen to use energy. So many fun and cool things could be experienced when going to flying class or transfiguration but instead we just press a button until we eventually run out of energy. When you finally meet the requirements for the lesson, you’re met with some experience to level up but have wasted time just watching your character smile and “polish their broomstick”. Not only that, these lessons REPEAT year after year with the same mundane process, experience nothing except for the occasional carpal tunnel from pressing the screen too many times. Harry Potter a “Hogwarts Mystery” leaves no stone unturned because they had nothing mysterious hiding there in the first place. This game truly feels like an uninspired cash grab.

Crashes A LOT during the feast for the second year. The storyline is good but again, the crashing.

  • Great and awful

Great cartoons, fun simple game to enjoy the castle and buy clothes. But no Intro or real personal choices. If we could start at getting the letter and make choices like: chose our response to the letter, clothes, our personal memory piece from home, how to respond to difficulties like 9 3/4 not letting us in, chose where to sit on the train, and choose responses to strangers or a mural on the wall (basically a hidden quiz in the story line to narrow the sorting hat to two houses based on our personality) then let us pick from those two. Then the story choices should be different for each house. Lots of work for the developers, but then maybe I’d care more about myself and my friends here...

Yes there is energy yes it’s pretty annoying. But overall the basic game mechanics so far after a week is kinda fun. I do wish there was more game here than just tapping.

In Harry Potter hogwarts adventure I can lay in bed relaxing while saving my virtual BFF from danger, like fighting dragons, winning duels against bad characters and playing games!! Harry Potter hogwarts adventure opened up an entirely new Harry Potter world for me!!!

  • Great game but needs some improvement

This game is so fun. Relaxing and keeps you coming back for more. Even if you don’t have money to spend you can still progress nicely in the game. However, sometimes when I watch the daily reward ads, they do not register an award, even after watching the entire 30 second ad through. Also noticed that “energy” doesn’t fill up sometimes if you leave the game running in the background of your device. Almost like the timer stops. I left the game for 40 minutes, came back and energy was still zero. So that’s not very nice, oh and don’t bother playing Gryffindor House because you will always be in last place in “events”. Change these and it is by far a 5 star game!

Loved the game even when the main story line got a bit wonky. But then they completely forget about one of the main characters, and instead of writing them back in, they kill them off. They killed them off just for the shock factor instead of it meaning something. It doesn’t help that said character was a POC. Knowing that they killed off one of my favorite characters after forgetting about them just eliminated all of my enthusiasm about the game. To me it tells me that the people behind the game would much rather create new content than use what they already have.
