Its a cool game, but if your not willing to spend a bunch of real money its a waste of time.
  • $1K in and still not fun

    By 1MoBadGame
Game is toxic with a lot of toxic players - just open Global Chat for a few minutes when you start playing - only point is for stronger players to constantly destroy weaker players - the missions quickly either run out or go way beyond your power level - you can pay to shield up your base for longer than 8 hrs a day, but if you don’t, expect to be hit until everything you had is gone. Tried to spend my way to a strong enough account to at least be competitive, but $1,000 later and it doesn’t help - everyone gangs up and still takes you down. If what you want is a lot of frustration and a huge pay wall between weak and strong - try it - hope when you figure out how boring the game really is you haven’t spent too much.

Lower tiered players enjoy protection from upper level players. But once you enter the unprotected level you become open game for those with deep pockets that can afford to buy ship upgrades. Protection levels should be tiered for example: levels 1-14, 15-26 , 27-36 would be prevented from attacking the level below your tier.

Great graphics and fun. I’m addicted. Mission completed!
  • Fun at the start becomes a slog

By Star Trekkin' out of here
Star Trek Fleet Command is enjoyable at the start. Learning the game, exploring systems, doing missions. It is fun at the start, and addictive. However, soon enough you begin to see the flaws: for a player to advance in the game they need to spend inordinate amounts of time on simple, repetitive tasks such as mining, kill x amount of enemies, or perform missions with basic storylines and which feature the same tasks over and over (go here, go there, fight boss). Additionally, the higher you get, the longer it takes to acquire the resources and materials you need to improve your ships, unlock new officers, or strengthen your star base... Unless, that is, you want to pay money. Scopely has established a pay-to-win system that can help you advance farther and faster, but at surprisingly high cost. So much of this game is “just out of reach” unless you grind day-in and day-out for weeks, of not months, or just throw a hundred bucks or so at the developer. Which is fine, if that’s your bag. But, for most people, that grind *will* just grind you down. Overall, despite there being a “story” aspect to the game, it is really a PvP experience. All of the story missions are terribly basic, and/or cribbed from pre-existing ST episodes or films (and then still basic). This game would’ve been enjoyable had Scopely’s desire to monetize so much of it (and at costs that are not comparable to other similar games... often much too expensive) hinder progression for the player so much.
  • Great game

    Great game
  • Could be a great game but.......the Toxic culture

By Austin's very own Ken Ward
The pvp aspect of this game totally ruins it. It creates a very toxic and mean culture within the game. Not enough mining nodes are available, so players are constantly attacking your mining ship. Even if you want to be polite, nice and mature, some kid will attack your station in the middle of the night and send you a message like “pwned” The pve aspect of the game is great. The missions are fun, the daily quests are fun, the gameplay of building ships and strengthening your station and ships is rewarding and will keep you coming back. Some people complain the station upgrades and ship building take way too long, but I understand they want to make money on this game so they sell the speedups, and you can either pay or wait 5 days for your ship to be built, which I think is fine for a tradeoff. It’s a business and they need to make money. This game could be so much better if there were something like Warcraft where you could choose to be a pvp player or not. Or another option could be something like faction based pvp, where your federation neighbor couldn’t attack your station, but a player with klingon or romulan faction alignment could fly over to your system and take the risk of attacking you while they would be open to be attacked by your faction. The way it is now has really nothing to do with Star Trek lore. It’s almost like they took another everybody against everybody game and reskinned it with Star Trek assets.
  • So far so good:

So far I have enjoyed this game. Although they do offer in-app purchases, it doesn’t seem to be a pay to win game. The size of the map is impressive and immersive.
