  • Was fun in the beginning but no longer

Players beware- this game has become a time sink. The more you play, the more frustrated you become, the less rewards you get for playing. The developers have taken the fun and imagination out of the game. They have bait and switch rules. The story line has become silly. This game is a lesson in futility. It requires lots of memory and drains your battery. I believe there are other Harry Potter themed games better designed and a lot more fun than this game. Don’t waste your time and effort on this game.
  • It’s Become An Unapologetic Money Grab

    By Brooke_92
Myself and a group of friends downloaded this game the day it launched. Of course it’s had some bugs in the last year, but overall we were enjoying playing and even willing to spend some money to increase gold for storage/potions/etc. However, over the past few months it’s become so obvious the game is a money trap that most of those friends no longer play. I personally stopped spending money when it became clear that the “foundables” only regularly spawn in crowded cities or downtown areas, which is not where I live, and therefore I can’t catch anything when I’m at home (where I’ve been spending a lot of time since the pandemic hit). With this last Brilliant Event and Community Day, however, it’s so blatantly obvious this game cannot be played without spending money, that I thought about uninstalling the app entirely. The challenges require so many resources that, unless you spend money to have extra spell energy, extra potions, etc, you cannot possibly complete every step in the challenges and therefore “complete” the events. I’ll likely continue to play because I still love the HP fandom, but it will never get my recommendation and I’ll never spend another dime unless Niantic makes an effort to make the game player-friendly again.
  • Just stopped being fun

I’ve played this game since it first launched, as I love Pokémon and I love Harry Potter. It has gotten totally tedious. It is impossible to succeed at community day and other events while in COVID restrictions. I even spent $$$ to get potions to help out and it didn’t seem to help. I actually really like having special events, but they seem impossible. I will have to move on to a new game.
  • Typically Love, But Downhill Quickly Lately

    By Pamgam
The events used to be fun and manageable. They have recently made them overwhelmingly difficult and stressful. People play games for fun and as a hobby and I’m over here about to delete it because it is only adding new anxiety to my life. They say they make the events playable from home - as many of us are still adhering to social distancing protocols. WRONG! Don’t waste your time, energy, and resources until they decided to quit being so petty - probably wanting everyone to drain their bank accounts on their game - and get back to what made the game great just a few weeks ago.
  • Two stars for being fun at the start

    By Staticinthevoid
I have been playing this game for a year and a half and at first it was fun. I happened to be in a location when I started playing that has spawns. I would walk around my house or down the street and meet something new daily. I ground out my characters abilities and leveled up at a steady rate. Then I spent 4-5 months in a spawn wasteland. It was confusing to me why the spawn doesn’t just follow the player, but I don’t make games. Upon returning, the game decided to change the rules of the games. Things I would routinely and easily capture would NOW take a potion and a couple tries. The “games” became an endless grind of the number of potions you could make, hoping you could get more spell energy as the day went on. Pandemic rules were added and for a time you could easily play the game again, because it was easier to get energy. I actually got to use the “fortress” portion of the game. I know this was due to the pandemic, but...listen...it get super hot in the summer and super cold in the winter. Do you want people to play your game year round? New rules were added with SOS training. Now you need to grind the game to collect different papers and different books. No explanation is given to how any of these books are awarded. And my brain hates the constant RED DOT on my Trunk icon that you can make go away. Now, currently, timed events are nearly impossible to complete. Using tonics and potions aren’t even an option anymore, you have to use them. The “ tonic for trace detection” doesn’t *appear* to even give you the traces you are looking for. You have to sit there for a half an hour hoping the next trace you tap will be on the task list and you have enough potions to overcome it. I don’t have 6 hours in my day to play this game?!! Who does?

I really enjoyed this game; however, I don’t seem to be able to sign in any longer without enabling cookies. This is unacceptable to me. If you value your privacy, this app may not be for you.
  • Bad customer service

  • Great game in the beginning but not anymore

    By EllenAH!
While this game was fantastic in the beginning, it has become a real pain to play. It’s now almost impossible to complete tasks because one of the components you need to get is so rare or you have to get way too many that you can’t complete the task. The game is no longer fun. I’m deleting...
  • What happened?

    By RedTwitchWitch
I just updated the app and it wiped out everything and started me from the very beginning of earning items again! The past year of earned items is completely gone. I love the game, but upset about this. I lost my friend connections, gifts earned, all the books for trainings, etc.
  • Cool idea BUT...

    By Jesse Angelino
The game’s been kind of glitchy my guy. I had trouble with it on my droid and am still having problems with it after I switched to IPhone. Seems every time I log in the connection fails and trying to engage anything leaves me at a loading screen till my phone falls asleep. Otherwise no complaints
