  • Italian again

    By BBattier
I had learned Italian 40 years ago but I never had the occasion to practice it here in the states. When I did part of the via francigena this summer, I could understand it but was incapable of speaking it. I have since restarted to learn it on Duolingo and enjoying it tremendously. BBattier
  • Oh Duolingo....what did they do to you.

The new version is actually great, but the app has been designed in a way to severely curtail free usage and drive you into pay content. You had a good run Duolingo!
  • Make finding friends easier

    By Kks71987
The search option never gives me any results close to what I search. And I don’t need the same person five times because they’re listed for each language. Make it easier.
  • Hearts

So disappointed in the update that forces you to “purchase” lives in order to progress. You now have a limit on wrong answers, after which you must purchase lives with gems, or else lose all progress and wait 5 hours for more lives in order to keep playing.
  • Great App! One suggestion

I love the conversational options that are accessible when learning french, but they aren’t offered for Italian (unless I just can’t find it!) but that would really be helpful if we had the option to have those text conversations with bots for Italian!! Also I want to be able to learn bad words. And insults. Thanks :)
  • Love it, but...

I love the app, I’ve been on Duolingo for quite some time now, and recently, you guys added a feature where if you’re not a plus member, you now do “hearts”. I’m really not a fan of this idea because it dims my learning experience and turns me away from even using the app, especially with being a beginner in German. I understand if it was for revenue purposes, but I’m still a little upset over having to wait for my hearts to refill or using gems to have to fill it back up. Aside from that, the app is extremely helpful and had a lot of wonderful opportunities for your learning experience.

I absolutely love Duolingo. I have tried other ways to learn a language. This one is the best.
  • Great app - if you have the right version

    By Akd10c
Using the app as a refresher for my high school and college French with the addition of learning a few other languages. I had one version while my boyfriend had the other version involving limited hearts and more ads which he absolutely hated and I would laugh because my version was great where I could make as many mistakes as possible and continue to “play” learning from these mistakes. Out of nowhere they switched me to the version my boyfriend has with ads and hearts and it succckkkkks! It’s way more based on watching ads rather than the consistent track of learning. Yes, I could just buy the premium version but the perk of this app is that it’s free and this version discourages this freedom with restricting the amount you can learn in one given session by way of limited number of hearts. One version of this is great! The other one is more than frustrating with the ads and heart control.
