I honestly hate this app. They give you 5 hearts and every mistake you make is -1. You are learning a new language. You are going to make mistakes. You are going to make a lot of mistakes. And 5 hearts isn’t enough. There shouldn’t even be lives in this.

This is my first app review since buying my iPhone 7 years ago. I used to study with Duolingo and it was a great app that really helped me with Korean grammar. I recently came back to study German and unfortunately it seems that Duolingo has evolved from a study app into a useless micro-transaction game. I want to be angry, but honestly this is standard quality deterioration for tech companies as they become larger and more successful. It seems no company is immune. I’ll be uninstalling the app immediately, but it really is a shame because it used to be quite good for learning.

I love this app very much, but I would like it if you will add more languages. Right now I’m trying to learn Telugu and I know this app can help me learn some things. Please please please add Telugu. 🥺❤️
  • Constant ads are annoying

Choose your poison, a high subscription price or a bombardment of ads. Worse, most ads are repeated items which don’t apply or even straight up scams.
  • Good but this may help.

I’m learning many different languages on Duolingo! Most of the languages I’m learning have pretty much the same script as English, so it’s easier to remember. Lately I’ve been learning Japanese. This is where I think could use some improvements! Whenever I see something, I know what it is (か=ka) but when I’m asked to write something down, I forget, and don’t know how to write it. I recommend including tracing with step-by-step lessons! What do you think?

Just got it to practice a bit more on my Spanish and I literally know everything now.
  • It doesn’t show the tips for korean on the app

I have been using duolingo since October 2019 and i’ve gotten pretty far but I haven’t realized that there are tips for korean until I went on the website version. It was so much easier to learn with the tips and I’m just confused why the tips are on the website but not the app. I just hope that it will put the tips on the app. It’s great other than that problem.
  • It’s just ok

It starts out really well but then you get stuck going over the same 5 sentences for weeks. I spent the last month learning how to say: ”A cat and a pizza” in French. Once you are doing well you should not have so much mundane repetition. I’m not inspired to continue.
  • Love it!

An amazing app, great for touching up on a language, or even starting from the beginning. 😀it is also a great time killer. Sitting in the waiting room, play this. It is fun, and you learn so much. Not even knowing.
