  • Fantastic app

Perfect in every aspect. Been trying language apps for years, can safely say this answers to all my needs and preferences. Functions perfectly, looks absolutely great, easy to use, completely well made. Thank you creators.

Eng to русский Native in both. Tried. I use SwiftKey. Inserts a space after I type word. Kept getting right words wrong. Entry fields should truncate input (eat whitespace). Moving the cursor to insert or delete a space e.g. Не плохо -> неплохо was... Painful (ios 13.1). Also because of keyboard, I could not see most of the suggested word at bottom half of the screen. No easy way to slide or hide keyboard to peek at word. App thought I only knew 142 words out of thousands 😂 such pessimism is probably conducive to learning. But no patience to fiddle with the keyboard. K bye.
  • Some potential but could be improved

Downloaded this the other day to brush up on my Spanish. While it's a decent vocab review tool, I've got some gripes. One is that repeatedly drilling the same sentence is not really the best way to learn a given word, since you can start identifying the word based on recognizing the sentence. I can see that there are multiple sentences for some, maybe all words, so I'm not sure why it doesn't rotate between those rather than require you to change it yourself if you want a different sentence. Another thing that bothers me a lot is inconsistency in spelling accuracy requirements. It's annoying to miss a question because of a typo, but it's even more aggravating to miss one because I put an accent where I didn't need one, knowing that I wouldn't have been penalized if I left an accent off of a word that needed it. Basically if you're going to be strict about spelling that should be consistent, it feels weird to have an incentive to never do the accents ever. If I miss the accents I need to review that word at least as much as the one I typed too fast. The last thing I'll talk about is the word limit. I got to try the week trial of unlimited and it was a little silly to be told to slow down if I did too many questions in a day. But the new word cap at twenty in free is pretty brutal. The thing that bugs me the most is honestly that it makes it impossible to do the in-app goals of 50 questions in a day (unless you're doing all review I guess?) Being unable to meet the only goalposts in the app is just demoralizing, and makes it feel like there's not much point to anything in free mode. Which doesn't really motivate me to upgrade to unlimited, because the week of free unlimited didn't make me feel like I got access to any cool extra content. It just made me feel like I could use the app, and like now I can't.
  • Wish my subscription gave me full access.

I really like this app. But I only have limited access even though I paid for a years subscription. I would like to find a way to reach someone who can resolve this for me. Help!!!
  • Best language app ever

    By Olyolyfox
I’ve tried lots, but nothing has advanced my German so rapidly and effectively as this app. Seeing and hearing the vocal in context, with the surrounding grammar getting increasingly difficult with the words is amazingly helpful. My grammar has improved far more from just practicing these words and phrases than from studying all the little rules of German. I highly recommend and am proud to have contributed to this great app with an annual subscription!
  • Where is sign-in on the app?

I couldn’t sign into the unlimited account I purchased after switching to a new phone. And there is no reply one week after contacting customer support!
  • The best app

  • Monetized...

    By basikuser
This app used to be free with no limits on how many words I could learn or challenges I could attempt, but has since been monetized. This is extremely disappointing as it was and remains a quality app. However, the price point is outrageous for what is essentially a dressed up flash card/dictionary combo app. Duolingo, a mainstay in phone-based language learning, has all of its content available for free and the paid options are more quality-of-life so there is little pressure to pay if you don’t want the frills. Lingvist has opted to gate their content and I have seen few developer responses that adequately address this change in business model. I don’t want to hear about how the “free users help our algorithm.” All that tells me is you’re using free users to improve your product while cutting us off from key features and content. No thanks. I’ll be uninstalling this app. Devs, I hope you reconsider this current model, or at least its price-point. I understand, however, if this is something above your heads and was instituted by some suit interested in the bottom line rather than education.
